Rules and just a Bunch of Information:
Teams:Boys and Girls Varsity and JV Levels:
- Teams are formed by the athletes. Minimum 6 players, maximum of 12 players on a roster.
- Varsity teams are made up of athletes between 9th and 12th grade.
- JV teams are made up of athletes between 6th and 10th grade.
- A JV roster can not have more than two athletes that are also on a Varsity roster. Yes this means that athletes could play on two rosters. One in JV and one in Varsity. You cannot play on two rosters in the same league.
- Uniforms are not needed, wear whatever you want!
- This will be a first entered first in bases. You are entered once the registration form is filled out, checked by the staff and the payment is turned in. Registration will open on Aug. 3rd.
- League play will be one night a week. Coaches will be assigned to teams. Teams will play two teams each night (total of 6 sets). "Matches" will be three sets. Two sets to 25 and the third set to 15. It will be timed. You will have 55 min to complete the three sets. Whoever is winning the 3rd set when the timer goes off wins that set. If there is a tie at the time of the buzzer one point will be played to determine the winner.
- Tournament will be the week of September 28th. It will be played on the same night as your regular season night was played. It will be double elimination. Winners bracket games will be 2 out of 3 sets (25pts, 3rd set to 15 /not timed). Loser brackets will be one set to 25. The two teams that make it to the finals will return for finals night on a date TBD. The tournament will be seeded by season set wins. If two teams are tied it will go to who won their head to head match during the season. If there is a 3 way (or more) tie it will be determined by point differential over the season. If still tied (that's just crazy!) we will play rock, paper, scissors to determine seeding.
- Practice will be once a week for 1hr and 40 min. Some practices may be on the weekends. A coach will be assigned to work with your team.
COVID Wavier and Procedures:
Waiver:
- A COVID waiver must be signed to participate in the league. See the attached wavier below to print and turn in on the first night of practice. Athletes will not be able to participate if the waiver has not been turned in to staff.
- Any staff, athletes or spectators that does not feel well, we ask that you please stay home. If anyone in your family has been exposed to COVID-19 we ask that you self quarantine and do not participate for at least 14 days from that contact. We all need to take some personal responsibility so that we can have this league and get to play volleyball.
- All athletes and spectators must wear a mask when entering the building and while in common areas in the building.
- All athletes and spectators will use the hand sanitizing station before temperature check.
- All athletes and spectators will get their temperature checked before entering the gym.
- Teams (athletes) may enter the building 10 min before their scheduled match or practice time. If you are the first match of the night go straight to your court. There will be a designated warm up area for teams that are waiting for their court to open. This will be the athletes responsibility to maintain social distancing while stretching and getting ready for their match.
- There will be no spectators at games from 8/24 - 8/28.
- There will be no spectators for practice. We ask that all parents/guardians please wait outside during practice.
- For the matches we will be allowing 12 spectators per team. It is the team's responsibility to work out who will be coming to spectate each match. As a spectator, when you arrive you will follow all check in procedures, you will also sign in for your team. Once the 12 spectator limit is reached no one else will be allowed in to watch that team. Once at the court, you will pick your designated seat and that will be your seat for the match. There will be no switching sides. There will be sanitizer available for the parents to disinfect their chairs before sitting.
- We know parents want to watch their kids play. This is why we are allowing any spectators at all, but we need your help in making this an easy process. We set it at 12 to allow one parent per athlete. Team captains and parents need to communicate and make a schedule/plan for spectators to attend and avoid any issues.
- All athletes and spectators will go to the assigned courts and must remain at their court. You may only leave if you need to use the restroom or of course in the case of an emergency. If you leave the court for any reason you must use the hand sanitizing station before reentering the gym.
- There will be designated seating areas for the athletes and the spectators. These seats will be spaced apart, please do not move them. Once you chosen a seat, that is your seat for the duration of the time that you are in the gym. There will be no switching sides. If for any reason a team has to switch courts please wait for the ODVA or U- Turn staff to sanitize the seats before choosing a new seat on that court.
- Between matches athletes chairs will be disinfected. Please allow the staff time to get this done before athletes choose their seats.
- A disinfected set of warm up balls and game balls will be brought out for each match. Athletes please do not start using balls for warm ups until the court coach tells you. You will be allowed on the court 5 min before the start of your match. Each team will get 1 min of shared time on your side and 2 min of hitting for just your team on the court, with a start time on the hour.
- When your match/practice is over you must leave the building. We would love for all of you to be able to hangout and watch your friends play but at this time that will not be allowed.
- When exiting the building please follow the arrows. There are separate designated entrances and exits.
