Travel Team Information

2020/2021 Season

Season Pricing:
​Boys National Team: $2,900
Boys East Coast Team: $2,100**If a team qualifies and decides as a team to attend a Nationals tournament, an additional $650 per athlete plus lodging and travel will be assessed**

​Girls National Team: $3,500
​Girls East Coast Team: $3,000**If a team qualifies and decides as a team to attend an AAU Nationals tournament, an additional $300 per athlete plus lodging and travel will be assessed**

The $500 deposit is due November 1st. The remainder will be divided by 8 months for all teams with the first payment due Jan 1st and the final payment due on August 1st. There is a 1.79% fee added to all credit/debit card charges. For the travel season, accounts must have a card/bank information on file. Financial contracts will be provided for review and signature after an athlete makes a team.
ODVA Travel Season Registration and Tryouts:
To attend an in person registration session and tryouts for a travel team, you must register online, by clicking here, and pay the registration fee. Because of COVID-19, registration and payment must be done online/over the phone. The less contact the better!
After you have filled out the online registration form, please call 804-358-2775 to arrange payment.
  • ​Registration fee is $125. This also includes a tryout t-shirt​!
Refund policy for registration:
  • If you do not make a team at ODVA, you will be refunded $75
  • If you make a team and turn down the offer to join ODVA, you will be refunded $50

  • We will have virtual meetings on Sunday, August 23rd, Sunday, September 6th, and Sunday, September 13th. We plan on sharing all of the information we have for the season, answer any questions, and share with you our exciting plans to keep your child playing through this Travel season. To join a virtual meeting, please email Lisa Harding at lharding@u-turn.org to receive the invitation and additional information.
  • Due to COVID-19, we will be doing all we can to limit the amount of contact at this time. In person registration will be for trying on uniforms** only this season. 
  • The uniform Try On session will be September 13th between 1-5pm. The times for your to attend will be based on your last name and will be posted on Thursday, September 10th.
**Our uniforms are custom, and if you choose to order without trying them on, then there will be no exchanges. Exchanges will only occur due to an error by ODVA staff.**

We encourage athletes to attend all tryout times.
Practice Schedule: 
  • We will start positional training on October 10th**schedule to be posted after tryouts**
  • Official Team Practices will begin November 2nd
  • Practices twice a week on the weekdays
  • ​Practices will be Academy run for the first 3 weeks, so that we can implement skills and overall training that is expected for all teams. Our Academy training is "one program". Training in this way will help assure we not learning different systems and techniques as athletes move up in age groups.
  • We will move into individual team practice after the Thanksgiving break
  • Teams will continue with position training throughout the season with once a month training on selected Sundays
  • We will work to ensure that you are not spending every weekend in the gym. We know, it's crazy, but there is life outside of volleyball. It's taken us years to get Coach Pond to realize it so we don't want him to regress! 

Season Plans:
  • We will begin training on Oct. 10th
  • We will practice/play through Presidents Day weekend
  • If high schools resume play in the spring we will take off March and April to allow full attention to be given to your high school playing season**There will be position training on select Sundays during this time**
  • National Teams will resume practice and play in May through Nationals
  • East Coast Teams will resume practice and play in May through end of May/early June
  • Girls teams could elect to attend a qualifier if the team agrees to do so during the down period
