A Joyful Christmas (in RVA)!

Christmas in RVA 2022 was a resounding success! The day began with nearly 50 volunteers helping to convert UTurn’s entire first floor from the coworking space to a winter wonderland. From hand-cut snowflakes and hand-strewn ornament garland to nearly a dozen decorated Christmas trees complete with wrapped gifts under each tree, the transformation was magical. In addition, volunteers helped to wrap new athletic shoes, a warm winter coat, and a special wish list item for many of our youth recipients.

Mixed in with Christmas music playing all day, the atmosphere was certainly how you would expect Santa’s Workshop to feel! The event supported roughly 180 youth from three organizations in Richmond: Richmond Police Athletic League (PAL), Youth Life Foundation of Richmond, and Faith & Family Church.

Participants enjoyed a catered dinner from Trolley Eats and played reindeer games, including basketball, volleyball, and soccer. Youth participants also shopped for books and presents at the library and guardian gift shop. Santa made a surprise visit with his helpers and took photos with the participants!
